ISR/Oldenburg N.A. Inspection - August 20th, 2006

Shown above- Oldenburg Farm's 2006 fillies for inspection

On August 20th, Oldenburg Farm welcomed Ekkehard Brysch and new judge Christian Schacht for our sixth annual ISR/Oldenburg N.A. inspection.  Unlike last year’s inspection, this year we were blessed with ideal weather and on-time flights for the judges.  Although the group of horses was small, the mares and foals were of high quality and the judges were quite impressed.  The atmosphere was relaxed, and all-in-all it was a perfect day.

The day began with four mares for inspection.  “Annabella” (Drachen Herz-Anna-Actual), a four year old owned by Margaret Goodell, was placed in the Main Mare Book.  Three mares were placed in the Premium Mare Book:  a Riverman mare, “Rivalee,” owned by Debbie Blackburn, scored 105 points; “Bialla” (Bugatti Hilltop-Phaedra-Parabol), owned by Jane Clark, earned 110 points; and “Irresistible” (Ideal-River Girl-Riverman), owned by Molly Schiltgen, was awarded 117 points.  Oldenburg Farm was immensely proud to welcome “Bialla” and “Irresistible” back, as they were both bred by Oldenburg Farm and were sold as foals.  It was wonderful to see how both of these lovely mares have matured and the great things each of their owners have accomplished with them.  With 117 points, “Irresistible” is the highest scoring mare in the history of the ISR/Oldenburg N.A.!

A Thoroughbred mare, “Foligno’s Dancer” (Foligno-Masked Hillo), owned by Natalie Prentice, was presented with her Roc USA filly for approval.  “Foligno’s Dancer” was placed in the Main Mare Book, and her filly “Radiant” was given 7.8 points.  Another mare and filly were presented, “Malarky’s Melody” (Pregel Strand-Bit of Malarky) a part-Trakener mare and her foal “Moulin Rouge” by Glenn Livit F, both owned by Christine Gregoriou.  The filly was a Premium candidate and brought back later in the day to receive Premium status, and “Malarky’s Melody” was placed in the Mare Book.

After an enjoyable lunch break we ended the day with the foal presentation.  Only two colts were presented; both were named Premium colts.  The Champion colt was “Sambucco” (Sempatico M-Fair Lady-Walldorf), owned and bred by Karen Tengler.  He scored 8.3 points.

The filly group was also small with five fillies presented.  A Roc USA filly, “Roc of Angels,” owned and bred by Natalie Prentice, was just short of Premium status earning 7.9 points.  The rest of the fillies were Premium, including “Roulette,” (Royal Prince-Elastik-Ehrensold), owned and bred by Jan Juranitch, and three Oldenburg Farm bred fillies.  For her owner Cindy Lindsay, Oldenburg Farm presented “Finola” (Fabuleux-Phaedra-Parabol), and then two foals still owned by the farm, “Pabellina” (Pablito-Rafiki-Riverman) and “Luciana” (Linaro-Corina-Cor Noir).  “Luciana” was the Champion filly of the day with 8.3 points.

Oldenburg Farm would like to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who made this inspection possible!  Special thanks to the ISR/Oldenburg N.A. and its wonderful team of judges, as well as Ken Borden, Jr., our official handler, Karen Lietz, our official photographer, and Dale Fredrickson, who shot video of the day.

American Hanoverian Society Inspection - August 2nd, 2006

Our fifth annual American Hanoverian Society inspection was held on August 2nd.  This year’s inspection team included judges Juergen Rump and Volker Ehlers, with Hugh Bellis-Jones as secretary.

The morning began with the Mare Performance Test, in which four mares participated.  The High Scoring Mare of the MPT was That’s a Zen xx (Zen xx-That’s An A One xx-That’s a Nice xx) owned by Kathleen Diambra Jerome and bred by Leonard Pike, Sr.

In the Non-Hanoverian Mare inspection, a mare owned by Christine de Rama and bred by C.W. Duncan, Decoy’s Comet xx (Decoy xx-Ione Ellen xx-Best of It xx) received top honors and was named the High Score Mare.  Five other Non-Hanoverian mares participated in this class and the judges were impressed overall with the group of mares, in particular the quality of the Thoroughbreds presented.

Four Hanoverian mares were presented for inspection.  The High Score Mare was Dragan Fly (Donnerkeil-Polaria II-Kompass), owned and bred by Deborah Reda.  This lovely mare is in foal to Regazzoni for 2007, so we look forward to welcoming her and her foal back at next year’s inspection!

After a brief lunch break the foal presentation was held.  As with the 2005 inspection, we saw a large group of foals including six colts and nine fillies.  A wide variety of bloodlines were represented, and outstanding foals by Rotspon, Royal Prince, Samarant, Landkoenig, Regazzoni, Baroncelli, Donavan, Constantin, Fabuleux, and De Niro were inspected.  The “Best of Day” colt honors were given to a Rotspon colt (Rotspon-Winteroza-Winterprinz) owned and bred by Valerie Ahl.

Reeshona (Regazzoni-Beguiler-Banter), owned by Kathleen and Lawrence Mottl and bred by Oldenburg Farm, was named “Best of Day” filly.

As always we would like to send special thanks and congratulations to all of the participants.  Much appreciation also goes to the AHS and its wonderful inspection team, our official hander Ken Borden, Jr., Karen Leitz our official photographer, and our newest crew member, Dale Fredrickson, who was our official videographer.  We will be posting pictures of the day from Karen as soon as they are available.  Video of the day is also available; if you are interested please contact Oldenburg Farm.
