ISR/Oldenburg N.A. Inspection - July 24th, 2005 On July 24th, Oldenburg Farm welcomed back Karsten Kuehl for our fifth annual ISR/Oldenburg N.A. inspection. The day presented us with a few uncontrollable challenges, including the hottest day of Wisconsin’s summer thus far, with a heat index of over 100 degrees Fahrenheit, and the delay and then cancellation of Karsten’s flight. Finally, it all came together and around 5:00 pm we started the inspection. First to go were the colts, which was a small class of only four. The champion colt was Oldenburg Farm’s “Rigden” (Regazzoni-Rafiki-Riverman), who scored an 8.7 overall. The second highest score was 8.3, which was shared by “Riccardi” (Regazzoni-Copper Lady-Cabaret) and “Belotti” (Bugatti Hilltop-River Girl-Riverman), both owned by Oldenburg Farm. A total of five fillies were presented, the first three of which also needed their dams approved. After their presentation, three premium candidates were called back into the ring, “Dracoina” (Drachen Herz-Larissa-Le Santo) owned by Margaret Goodell of Willow Glen Farm, “Lianka” (Linaro-Corina-Cor Noir) owned by Oldenburg Farm, and “Risacci” (Riverman-Phaedra-Parabol) also owned by Oldenburg Farm. The champion filly was “Risacci”, who scored an 8.7, followed by “Lianka”, who scored an 8.5. Three mares were presented as three year olds for mare inspection. Oldenburg Farm was especially excited to welcome back two mares which we bred, “Whinny Widget” (Werbellin-Classika-Consul) owned by Margaret Goodell of Willow Glen Farm and “Walkure” (Weltmeyer-Copper Lady-Cabaret) owned by Elaine Burkhart, DVM. “Walkure” was the high scoring mare with 112 points, which qualifies her as a premium mare. The last portion of the day was the Mare Performance Test. Luckily this portion of the inspection was held in the indoor arena, as the sun was setting as the presentation of the mares was beginning! Three mares participated in the MPT, which included presentation in-hand, free jumping, and an under saddle portion in which the mares were ridden by not only their riders but also a test rider. Oldenburg Farm would like to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who made this inspection possible, and again thank all involved for their tremendous patience and flexibility on a day that did not go quite as planned! Special thanks to the ISR/Oldenburg N.A. and Karsten, Ken Borden, Jr. our official handler, and Karen Lietz our official photographer.
AHS Inspection - August 2nd, 2005 Our fourth annual American Hanoverian Society inspection was held on August 2nd. This year’s inspection team included judges George Walker and Dr. Werner Schade, and Hugh Bellis-Jones as secretary. The morning began with the Mare Performance Test in which three lovely mares participated. Maple Run Farm, owned by Doug & Shannon Langer of Wisconsin, presented two mares in the test, and Wendy Costello of Wisconsin presented the third. Maple Run Farm’s “Wintessa” (Winterprinz-Alexa-Abajo) presented herself incredibly well in both the free jumping portion of the test and the riding portion, and was the High Scoring Mare of the MPT as well as the High Scoring Hanoverian Mare. Out of a group of six mares in the non-Hanoverian Mare class, the lovely mare “Greetings” (Gonzo I-Know Regrets-Samurai), owned by Edda Thors of Wisconsin, took top honors. In the afternoon, the foal presentation was held. We had a large group of some very promising foals, with 11 colts and 9 fillies. The stallions these foals represented included Contucci, Diamond Hit, Domiro, Donavan, Fabuleux, Feiner Stern, Ferro, Graf Top II, Rotspon, Hilltop Rousseau, Sandro Hit, and Widmark. The “Best of Day” colt was striking Diamond Hit colt (Diamond Hit-Revlon-Rohdiamont) owned by Maple Run Farm. The filly presentation included Oldenburg Farm’s only entry for the day, “Feiorella” (Feiner Stern-Beguiler-Banter), who was named the “Best of Day” filly. As always, we would like to send special thanks and congratulations to all of the participants. Much appreciation also goes to the AHS and its wonderful inspection team, our official hander Ken Borden, Jr., Karen Lietz our official photographer, and our newest crew member, Dale Fredrickson, who was our official videographer. We will be posting pictures of the day from Karen as soon as they are available. Video of the day is also available; if you are interested please contact Oldenburg Farm.
