2004 Handling Tour with the Hilltop Team - Held June 19th-20th, 2004

The 2004 Hilltop Handling Clinic was a huge success.  We had a wonderful group of horses that attended, from mares preparing for the mare performance test to young horses working on their behavior in-hand.  We were especially proud to have three Oldenburg Farm-bred horses participate, Whimsical L, Walkure, and Bialla.  It was fun to see how much they have matured since being sold and how nice they each were.

Saturday started with a video introduction given by Michael Bragdell and Richard Malmgren of Hilltop Farm, and was followed by in-hand work and free jumping.

On Sunday we started with free jumping and a short lecture on the basics of it and ended the day with in-hand work.  As always the talent and professionalism of the team from Hilltop was appreciated by all who attended, and we at Oldenburg Farm would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to them and everyone who participated in the clinic.

AHS Inspection - Held August 9th, 2004

On August 9th, Oldenburg Farm hosted its third American Hanoverian Society inspection.  Vanessa Carlson, George Walker, and Hugh Bellis-Jones represented the AHS.  The day started with the Mare Performance Test in which four mares participated.  Top honors went to Rosabella, owned by Rebecca Hopfner of Illinois.  Rosabella was also the high score Hanoverian mare.  For the non-Hanoverian mare class, Ransome Bunnie owned by Kari Vogel of Wisconsin, took top honors.
The foals were presented after a brief break for lunch.  Thirteen foals were presented, representing a variety of bloodlines, with sires including Contucci, Donavan, Widmark, Sir Caletto, Don Frederico, and Graf Top II.   Of the colts, the “Best of Day” was a tie between two extremely nice colts, Susan Sheen’s Werbellin colt (Werbellin-Annabella-Archipel) and Oldenburg Farm’s Regazzoni colt “Ranellucci” (Regazzoni-EM Beguiler-Banter).  Two fillies were also called back for “Best of Day,” a Winterprinz filly (Winterprinz-Ginger Rogers-Fred Astaire) owned by Ninalynn Cianciolo and “Riescha,” a Regazzoni filly (Regazzoni-Diva-Duellglanz) owned by Oldenburg Farm.  “Riescha” was named “Best of Day” for the fillies, although it was again very close as both fillies were of incredible type.

We at Oldenburg Farm are proud to again have hosted this wonderful inspection and would like to thank all of the participants.  The AHS and Vanessa, George, and Hugh also deserve thanks.  They did a terrific job of keeping things running smoothly as well as speaking with the participants and audience to make this an educational experience for everyone.  Thank you also to Ken Borden, Jr. who was our official handler and to Karen Lietz, our official photographer.

ISR/Oldenburg N.A. Inspection - Held September 3rd, 2004

On September 3rd. Ekkehard Brysch came to Oldenburg Farm to judge the ISR/Oldenburg N.A. inspection.  This was our fourth year in a row hosting the inspection.  The day started with mares for inspection.  Of the eight mares presented one made the Pre-Mare Book, five made the Main Mare Book, and two mares made the Premium Mare Book.  Ken Borden, Jr. presented his mare “O’ She’s Gauguin” (Opus) who received 105 points and Oldenburg Farm’s mare “Rafiki” (Riverman-Corina-Cor Noir) received 106 points.  Four foals were presented with their dams that also needed approval, and then came the fillies for inspection followed by the colts.  We had a wonderful group of foals, with no foal scoring below a 7.7.  Of the ten fillies presented five were awarded premium.

The premium fillies were “Drizelle” (Donavan-Sleetandfreeznrain) owned by Tricia Phippen, and all four of Oldenburg Farm’s Regazzoni fillies, “Ristasja” (Copper Lady-Cabaret), “Rastella” (Corina-Cor Noir), “Ruca” (Phaedra-Parabol), and “Rivianna” (River Girl-Riverman).  “Ristasja” was the champion filly scoring 8.8 points and “Rastella” was the reserve champion scoring 8.6.  Five colts were presented with premium awarded to two colts, both of whom are by Regazzoni.  “Rhyme or Reason” out of Five Bayou Babe owned by Mary Reimer scored 8.1 points and Oldenburg Farm’s “Ridalgo” (Rafiki-Riverman) scored 8.2 points to be named champion colt.

We at Oldenburg Farm are proud to again have hosted this wonderful inspection and would like to thank all of the participants.  The ISR/OLD N.A. Registry and Ekkehard also deserve thanks.  Thank you also to Ken Borden, Jr. who was our official handler and to Karen Lietz, our official photographer.
